Description
I love seeing rare cars at the annual Cars on Fifth in Naples, Florida and this was a standout for me in the classic sportscar group. Daimler Company, a British manufacturer produced the SP250 from 1959 to 1964. The SP250 has a fiberglass body, four-wheel Girling disc brakes, and a 2.5-litre Hemi-head V8 engine. The car was described as a saloon car (a car with 3 separate compartments for engine, passenger and cargo), it received less than rave reviews for its design yet has gained popularity over time. Launched as the Daimler Dart in April 1959 at the New York Motor Show, where it was unofficially voted as the ugliest car at the show. Later Chrysler, whose Dodge division owned the trademark for the "Dart" model name, ordered Daimler to change the name under threat of legal action So "Dart" was dropped from the name.
