Description
The driver appears happy to be Cruising in his 1936 Auburn Boat-tail speedster. It’s not often that you run into a 1936 Auburn Boattailed Speedster, and this is not one of those times.. From 1979 to 1986 there were a few company's reproducing these very rare cars, to celebrate the car's 50th anniversary, I didn't get a chance to speak with its owner but I believe it is a 1986 version. The original Auburn targeted the young and dynamic customers with the 851 “Boattail” Speedster. The car was powered by a straight-eight engine and there was also an optional supercharger available for those who wanted more horsepower: 150 hp instead of 115 hp for the standard version. These are very special cars in limited numbers, in 1936 (were actually left overs from 1935's) in 1936 sales were quite poor, with less than 2,000 cars sold. Consequently the following year saw no more new Auburns.

Ooops. I read further....
Don Columbus replied:
Thank you Barbie!! The real ones a few and far between, most don't get driven on public roads.

I shot a yellow replica one with a VaVoom license plate; looks as if you spotted the real thing!

Thank you so much Laurie!! When I sell this one at shows I have a better name for it "Showboating the Boattail" I just love the driver's expression.
