Description
In the spring and summer months bald cypress trees have feathery branchlets of soft needles that add a wonderful finely-textured element to a landscape. The Bald Cypress (Taxodium distichum) are slow growing that can live up to 600 years (in Florida), and are usually found near streams and rivers, as well as swamps with slow moving water. This picture was taken outside of Clyde Butcher's Big Cypress Gallery in Ochopee, FL right on US-41. For anyone who does not know Clyde is a world famous photographer often referred to as the Ansel Adams of the Everglades. His gallery is well worth a visit, I've been there several times.
